Fishbowl Wives: TV Series You Must Watch After Season 1

The first episode of ‘Fishbowl Wives’ has released on this Valentine’s day. The series is about love, disappointment in love, and also redefining love. Directed by Michiko Namiki the series introduces Sakura Hiraga, wife of a wealthy man who runs a hair salon.

Sakura has given up on her dream and though is apparently a happy wife in a luxurious apartment envied by all, she is actually verbally and physically abused by her husband. In her frustrated marriage life, she considers herself as a goldfish in a fishbowl. But it is this goldfish, the context of which makes her meet another man.

‘Fishbowl Wives’ does not only tale Sakura Hiraga’s story, it also depicts five more women’s stories who are trapped in marriage and embarks upon infidelity. Rich Ting, Ren Hanami, Sanayee Yuan, Anzu Lawson are some of the cast members of ‘Fishbowl Wives’.

Wako Taira works part-time at a cinema theatre. She is in a relationship with her boyfriend for three years. Though frustrated, she has never considered breaking up with him. But when she comes across Yumeaki Iko, a high school student, she cannot resist her urge to celebrate her desire anymore.

Eri Tokunaga and Fuju Kamio play the roles of Wako and Yumeaki respectively. The series aired from July 26, 2018, to October 12, 2018, on Tokyo TV and on Netflix on November 30, 2018.

This is a J-drama (Japanese drama series) that is the directorial debut of Mika Ninagawa. Set in Tokyo, the series is about women and focuses on the contrasting lives of Limi Nara, a famous fashion photographer, and Natsume Hyakuta, a young actress who unlike Limi is having personal and professional struggles and is in search of confidence.

But when Limi posts a picture of Natsume on her Instagram, something changes. Natsume and many other women fight for their dreams and happiness in life.

Miki Nakatami and Elaiza Ikeda play the roles of Limi Nara and Natsume Hyakuta respectively. The series released on February 27, 2020 in the United States.

Another Japanese psychological thriller series ‘Re: Mind’ is about a group of girls who find themselves waking in a European-styled old room. The eleven girls see that their feet are shackled to the floor.

They discern that their situation can be related to another classmate who was disappeared months ago. But when some of the girls begin to disappear from the table they understand that a checkered past is shared by them with Miho. But can the person responsible behind this trap be one of the girls on the table?

The main cast of ‘Re: Mind’ are the girls from the first generation of the Japanese idol. Mirei Sasaki, Sarina Ushio, Mei Higashimura, Ataka Takamoto play in this series. The series was released on Netflix on October 13, 2017.

This Japanese series uses an unusual way to depict social anxiety and depression in students and how these things destroy lives. High school student Ayumi witnesses fellow student Zenko Umine committing suicide and passing out.

But when she wakes up she finds herself in the body of Umine as Umine gets switched in the body of Ayumi. From this point, the series delves into the factors that impelled Umine to commit suicide.

Kaya Kiyohara and Miu Tomita play the roles of Ayumi and Umine respectively. The series was released on Netflix on August 1, 2018.

The Many Faces of Ito-

This Netflix original rom-com is about a screenwriter who is very successful in her thirty years of age. She interviews four women. The topic of the four interviews are same- a man named Ito. All of the four women look like they have feelings for the same man Ito. The woman taking their interviews is not only a screenwriter, but also a female advice counselor.

The series is based on Asako Yuzuki’s book ‘Ito Kun A to E’. It released on August 11, 2017 and stars Fumino Kimura, Nozomi Sasaki, Mirai Shida, Elaiza Ikeda, Kaho etc.
