Vikings: Valhalla Trailer Revealed More Bloody Battles

Published by

Vikings: Valhalla Updates: People, Vikings are all the rage these days. Not only has indie film fan favorite (say that five times fast) Robert Eggers chosen this epic subject for his next film, “The Northman,” but Netflix is always looking for ways to cash in on even the smallest whiff of a trend, which explains their interest in rebooting the History Channel’s “Vikings” series with a brand-new spin-off series.

Sure, you’d think that Henry Cavill’s “The Witcher” would be enough to quench the fantasy appetites of eager subscribers, but they’ll have to wait a while for the next season to arrive. Meanwhile, “Vikings: Valhalla” appears to be filling the void for action, drama, and moody main characters out for vengeance.

“Valhalla” takes place a century after the events of the previous series, bringing various Norse mythological traditions into conflict with the rest of England. Classic characters including Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Hardrada, and Norman King William the Conqueror are at the center of the brutal and frenzied action in our latest look at the spin-off drama. Someone should surely burn a candle for the London Bridge as well.

Anyone who knows even a little bit about the children’s song knows what comes next. Take a look at the action-packed trailer below.

The first five (and a half) seasons of the original “Vikings” series were released on The History Channel before the final ten episodes were exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video. “Vikings: Valhalla,” the spin-off series, is now available on Netflix, and it appears to have retained all of its energy, hard-edged tone, and proclivity for huge, show-stopping speeches on the brink of battle.

When you factor in the normal breadth and scale associated with Netflix’s enormous riches set aside for high-profile production budgets, “Valhalla” appears to be yet another must-see event.

If the desperation weaved throughout this new film is any indicator, the last hundred or so years haven’t gone well for the community of Viking warriors, and they’re now out for blood and retribution against their hated English rivals.

“Vikings: Valhalla” features Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Olaf Haraldsson, Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson, Pollyanna McIntosh as Queen lfgifu, Frida Gustavsson as Freydis Eriksdotter, David Oakes as Earl Godwin, Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson, Laura Berlin as Emma of Normandy, Bradley Freegard as King Michael Hirst (creator and writer of the original “Vikings”) and screenwriter Jeb Stuart are behind the spin-off series, which also has Vanessa Alexander, Declan Croghan, and Eoin McNamee on the writing team.

“Vikings: Valhalla” will be released on Netflix on February 25, 2022.
