Vikings Valhalla: Release date on Netflix, trailer, & characters

Published by

Vikings Valhalla Updates:  The end of “Vikings” has not been the end of the Nordic sagas. Netflix will premiere this year the spin-off “Vikings: Valhalla.”

One hundred years after the end of his era, the names of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons are still heard in Viking lands. The deeds of the so-called descendants of Odin have not been forgotten. They were the greatest Nordic warriors of all time and inspiration for the figures that will fill the halls of Kattegat in “ Vikings: Valhalla ”, the spin-off that Netflix will premiere this same 2021.

Vikings Valhalla: Release Date

Netflix ordered the making of ” Valhalla ” in November 2019, a few weeks before the premiere of the sixth and final season of ” Vikings, ” which marked the end of the age of heroes in Nordic culture following the deaths of Bjorn Ironside and Ivar the Boneless and the retirement of Ubbe and Hvitserk, all sons of Ragnar.

” Vikings: Valhalla ” is an MGM Television production, featuring Michael Hirst, the creator of ” Vikings, ” as executive producer and Jeb Stuart (“The Fugitive,” “Die Hard”) as showrunner. Morgan O’Sullivan (” Vikings “) will also serve as one of its executive producers. According to TV Guide, Netflix would have ordered 24 initial chapters, which could be divided into two seasons of 12.

What will be the plot of  VIKINGS: VALHALLA?

When it announced the making of the series, Netflix revealed that “Valhalla” would follow the adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who crossed the bridge built by Ragnar and his sons, including Leif Erikson, Freydis Eriksdottir, Harald Hardrada, and the Norman king. William the Conqueror, 100 years after the events of the sixth season of ” Vikings .” Hirst told Collider that Erick the Red, the father of Leif and Freydis, and some other Viking names will also be discussed.

As a century has passed, the characters in ” Vikings ” are dead in their entirety, but that doesn’t mean they have been forgotten. Hirst explained that by the time of ” Valhalla “, characters like Ragnar, Lagertha, Bjorn, and Ivar will be mythical, although it will not be necessary to have seen the initial drama to understand the upcoming events.

By the time the events of “ Valhalla ” take place, Kattegat will be an even larger trading port, both in size and influence, but it will still be the spiritual home of the Vikings, whose battles will now have a new tint.

At this time, even the king of England is Viking, but Christian, and the conflict will revolve between the Vikings who believe in Jesus Christ and the pagan Vikings. The world will be another.

The TRAILER

” Vikings: Valhalla ” does not yet have a release date, but as the first season was already filmed in full after overcoming some breaks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first advances could come very soon.

According to What’s on Netflix, production on a second season would begin soon.
