A recent People cover features the couple and it bears a strong resemblance to a magazine cover seen in Affleck’s movie Gone Girl. The movie is based on Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel of the same name and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as Nick and Amy Dunne.
The seemingly happy couple seems like the picture of a perfect American couple until Amy suddenly vanishes making Nick the prime suspect in her disappearance. The film was well-received by both the audience and the critics and went on to win numerous awards and nominations.
In the movie, Amy’s disappearance is sensationalized by the media as she is portrayed as an ideal wife while Nick gets the image of an infidel whose motives are questioned at every turn. In the end, it turns out that it was Amy’s plan all along to frame her husband after she discovered that he was having an affair.
