Attack of Titans is a fantasy anime series in which people are forced to live in settlements that are surrounded by giant walls to protect them from the titans. Titans are basically mindless humanoids who roam the land and kill any human they came across.

Attack of Titan basically follows Eren Jaeger. Eren Jaeger is a young lady who had joined the military for protecting her hometown from the titans as her mother was killed by the titans. After being trained for a long time.

Eren and her comrades fight their first battle with the titans. After which they decimate the settlement walls once again. This was known as the Battle of Trost. It is shown that the military had suffered after this battle. It also includes the friend of Eren, Thomas Wagner who was devoured by the titans.

In Attack of Titans, Marco was a casualty in the Battle of Throat. He was one of the well-liked members of the regiment. He used to boost the morale of his fellow cadets regularly. Jean Kireschtein has also become the close friend of Marco.

He fought the battle with bravery and also saved the life of the jeans while distracting the titan who was going to Jean. In episode 13 of the Attack of Titans, it was jean only who found the mangled corpse of Macro in the cleaning operation when the battle was over. The death of Macro was simply chalked up as a casualty of war. 

In the Flashback episode 52 of Attack of Titans, it was revealed the conversation of his fellow candidates Reiner Braun and Bertholdt Hoover, who were talking of Eren Jaeger that they had the ability to get transformed in the titans.

The conversation also revealed that the titan who caused the last two wall breaches which led to the deduction of Marco were working against the comrades. They both along with the traitor Annie Leonhart decided not to let Macro live and they removed his weaponry and watched titans eating him.
