Army of Dead: Is the time loop theory correct?

Army of Dead TIme Loop Theory: Immediately after Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the American filmmaker returned to the zombie subgenre with this Netflix epic “Army of the Dead”.

Zack is best known for his superhero filmmaking, where he directed characters like Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice, Watchmen, and Man of Steel. On the other hand, he caught the attention of horror fans with his 2004 remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.

Fans were delighted to hear that he has again tried his hand at the undead with his latest genre mashup. We focus on the mercenaries who are caught up in a raid on a Las Vegas casino. The film has earned quite a bit from the online discussion, but some are particularly intrigued by the Army of the Dead’s time loop theory.

ARMY OF THE DEAD: A TIME LOOP?

As the raid progresses, they finally reach the vault, and Vanderohe (played by Omari Hardwick) begins telling a story to Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer).

Vanderohe suggests that the bodies at their feet bear a remarkable resemblance to his own crew, and argues that the casualties could possibly left behind from their previous attempt to break into the vault.

Vanderohe emphasized the possibility of their entourage who tried many times to complete the task but failed. If they die, the clock may be reset, and they just need to start again.

It appears that Vanderohe is trying to scare Dieter and the theory is not brought up again after Dieter commented that it was “cool”.

Zack Snyder’s Take on Theory

Although the theory is being contested by one of the characters, most viewers will argue that we still have to believe that the bodies they are talking about belong to the crew that was put in to take on the mission previously.

Another detail suggesting that it could also be the group at the casino table suggests not one, but two previous failed attempts.

On TheFilmJunkees Vodka Stream, the filmmaker stated:

“I will also say that like… there’s a chance – and I’m not saying this is 100% true, and in some ways it’s not – but the group at the table, I mean, it’s pretty subtle, but that’s them also at the table as well as… they get farther every time. Like, is this the time they made it all the way to the money?”

This is a tricky theory, and if there are further clues, it might be worth rethinking the movie from the start.

In fact, a proven time loop theory will open up new possibilities for the sequel, especially considering the fate of many characters in Army of the Dead.
