The Last Kingdom Season 5 Updates: We have sad news for the viewers of ‘The Last Kingdom’. The show’s season 5 would not come in May 2021. Netflix announced the renewal of the series on July 7, 2020.
The Last Kingdom is a British historical fiction television series that premiered on BBC in 2015 and then on Netflix in 2018. It is based on The Saxon Stories by author Bernard Cornwell.
The loyal fans of the series might be having a lot of questions for season 5 like why is it getting delayed and when can they expect it to come. We’ll be answering such questions in our article.
There might be also questions regarding what will be Uhtred’s next move. Many questions are left unanswered which can be cleared only when season 5 comes out. We’re also eager to see Aelswith continuing her path of redemption. Aren’t we?
However, our questions aren’t expected to get cleared soon as Netflix doesn’t have ‘The Last Kingdom’ as one of its May 2021 release. There’s a gap of at least between 12 to 14 months between the renewal of any series on Netflix but this schedule is getting disturbed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This also means that the shows will come back a little later than usual. So, we’ll have to wait a little more for our favorite period drama to return.
Release Date of The Last Kingdom Season 5
The Last Kingdom Season 5 is currently under filming. After this the post-production also takes time. But the positive thing here is that the post-production of the show won’t take a long time as it doesn’t involve a lot of VFX work unlike shows like Shadow and Bone.
However, filming is being done with every proper precaution so it is expected that filming alone would take a time longer than it’s usual. The production is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2021. After the wrap-up of production more details can be expected to come out about its release date. So, the wait will be worth the while. The 5th season is likely to be the last installment in the series. There will be no more seasons after this. Till now, no reason has been given as to why the series is coming to an end.
Netflix has not yet announced the date for the release of The Last Kingdom Season 5. Between every season of The Last Kingdom, there has been a gap of one and a half years. According to this, the next season can be expected by the end of 2021.
