Rick & Morty Season 5 Short Spinoffs and More Getting Digital Short Spinoffs

Rick & Morty Season 5 Updates: Adult Swim has announced the production of four new digital short series based on diverse blockbusters, including Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken.

Adult Swim has announced the production of four new digital short series based on popular shows such as Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Ricky and Morty, created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, follows the eponymous mad scientist and his grandson on their excursions across the multiverse, as well as the problems their dysfunctional family faces daily.

Robot Chicken, a sketch comedy created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, has been a hit for the network for 16 years, winning six Emmys and two Annie Awards.

The Vindicators, Aquadonk Side Pieces, Alabama Jackson, and Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell: The Animated Series are the four new series. Erica Rosbe, Sarah Carbiener, Harmon, and Roiland will executive produce the first, which will focus on the superhero squad from Rick and Morty’s season 3 episode.

MC Pee Pants, The Frat Aliens, The Mooninites, The Plutonians, Handbanana, Happy Time Harry,  and The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past will all appear in the sequel.

It will operate as a continuation of ATHF and catch fans up on the later lives of side characters and villains such as The Mooninites, The Plutonians, MC Pee Pants, The Frat Aliens, Happy Time Harry, Handbanana, and The Cybernetic Ghost.

The third will feature on Faison’s smooth-talking time traveller, created by Green and Senreich’s Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.  It debuted at a Robot Chicken San Diego Comic-Con panel. The fourth season will pick up where Your Pretty Face left off, serving as the fifth season for the Emmy-nominated smash short series.

Your Pretty Face continues to grow in popularity among the fans. Robot Chicken and ATHF have maintained their dominance in the adult animation arena after more than a decade on the air.

While some fans are more concerned with the proper reintroduction of ATHF and R&M, there’s no doubting that some type of material from both brands would be nice while they wait.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see their favourite characters return, with Rick and Morty due to return for its fifth season in June and the ATHF movie expected to debut sometime next year. Meanwhile, fans will have to wait and see how the spin-offs do when they premiere later this year.
