Why Zack Snyder Isn’t Getting Paid For His Justice League Director’s Cut

Published by

Justice League Updates: Zack Snyder explains why he isn’t being rewarded to finish his cut of Justice League. For the past few months, Snyder has been hard at work completing his version of Justice Leaguer, which is drastically different from the copy that was released in theaters in 2017.

That cut was ultimately seen by Joss Whedon and changed much of Snyder’s real plans. Though, the release of the Snyder Cut meant his vision will finally play out in the way it was intended to. Properly named Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the 4-hour movie will debut on HBO Max in March.

Zack already had plenty of unused footage at his disposal, but he also organized some reshoots last fall to add in additional moments. Most notably, he adds Jared Leto’s Joker to the mix, something that takes fans entirely by surprise.

Beyond that, Justice League will be featuring other characters who are not included in the theatrical version and will feature few alternate storylines. A pretty good amount of work is going to be put onto this release, yet Snyder isn’t getting paid a cent for it.

Justice League: What Zack Snyder has to say about the news?

Although Snyder had previously confirmed that he isn’t earning a paycheck for completing Justice League, he detailed why that is in a new feature for Vanity Fair.

It’s said that this release is costing Warner Bros. around $70 million, and also in return, they will be receiving a major piece of content for the growing HBO Max and the brilliant story of Zack’s comeback. Snyder, meanwhile, gets nothing and was intentional on his part.

“I’m not getting rewarded”, Snyder said. “I didn’t want to be beholden to anyone, and it allows me to keep my negotiating powers with these people pretty strong.”  As a result, he could be maintaining control by creativity.

It’s a bold move, one that is just another reason the Snyder Cut is an unconventional situation. One would take that Snyder could receive little compensations for helming reshoots and editing altogether a lengthy film, but he was also willing to sidestep that just he could make the movie he always intended.

Justice League is pretty much his passion project now, and that he turned down a paycheck just shows how determined he is to the movie itself, not the perks that come with it.

Warner Bros. is taking into a big swing with Snyder’s Justice League, and a fan reaction has so far pointed it will playoff. The studio doesn’t have any issues to continue with Snyder’s real DCEU plan, but though he and his fans will get to see this piece of it come to life.

Justice League is a mixture of a lot of things, such as Snyder’s hard work and the fan campaign that leads to its release. God willingly, it will prove to be worthy of all of it in the end.
