Zack Snyder explains why he made Army of the Dead with Netflix

Filmmaker Zack Snyder says that with Netflix, he wanted to make his zombie heist film Army of the Dead as Warner Bros had little interest in the movie. With the latest movie, the filmmaker, known for films like 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman and Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, returns to the zombie genre.

He made his directorial debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a zombie horror. Headlined by Dave Bautista, Army of the Dead is set during a Las Vegas zombie outbreak, where the supreme gamble is made by a squad of mercenaries, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the largest heist ever attempted. For the Army of the Fallen, though, the workshop was not so keen. They didn’t want to waste a zombie movie for that kind of money or really didn’t take it that seriously. Snyder told Entertainment Weekly that I was still like, Look guys, this is more than (just a zombie movie), but it fizzled out.

It’s enough to claim that it comes from Area 51, which is in the opening scene of the film, and then the entire cast is in the animated movie, along with Christian Slater as the bad guy.
