Hightown Season 2 Starring Monica Raymund Renewed By Starz

Published by

Hightown Season 2 Updates: Starz has picked up the Cape Cod-set drama Hightown, starring Monica Raymund and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, for a second season.

The Lionsgate-backed broadcaster said that across its streaming channels globally, the crime drama had set a new record for series premiere viewership.

On May 17, the season, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Lionsgate Television, launched its eight-part run, and after the fourth season airs, the renewal comes.

Hightown traces the path of one woman to sobriety, overshadowed by an unfolding investigation into the crime. Chicago fire actress Monica Raymund plays Jackie Quiñones, a hard-fought National Marine Fisheries Service worker who, after she finds a body on the sand, gets her life thrown into a disarray-another survivor of Cape Cod’s heroin crisis.

Jackie takes the first steps toward sobriety to cope with the pain before she becomes convinced it’s up to her to solve the crime. Along with Riley Voelkel, Shane Harper, Amaury Nolasco, and Atkins Estimond, James Badge Dale stars as well.

With Gary Lennon executive producing with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed from Jerry Bruckheimer TV, Hightown is developed and executive produced by Rebecca Cutter. Raymund told Deadline that in her first cable drama, she was really nervous about starring.

I never had the chance to test myself with cable television, as much as I love the network, because I come from a very theatrical tradition, so I prefer incredibly complicated stories. I like it messy and dirty.

When it comes to writing, I don’t like cleanliness, but this was a chance to screw up my job and challenge myself, she said. That’s pretty awesome for me, to be able to play the lead, particularly as a queer Latino woman.
