Legacies Season 3 Goes Full King Arthur & Reveals a Surprise Hero

Published by

Legacies Season 3 Updates: “We’re Not Worthy,” finds the Salvatore School dealing with one of their students nearly killing everyone with dark magic (that would be Kaylee Bryant’s Josie Saltzman) by throwing a field day.

While the show’s hero Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) lies in a magically induced coma, and her boyfriend Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) is prancing around as a ghost and refusing to come back to life, everyone else is playing tug of war and capture the flag.

In this episode we get a riff on Arthurian legends, as Nimue, a.k.a. The Lady of Lake, interrupts the Salvatore kids to explain one of them must wield Excalibur in order to kill The Green Knight.

The Green Knight is a massive monster in armor with glowing green eyes, who gets slower with every step. This is, unequivocally, very stupid.

But to the show’s credit, as usual, they treat it as very stupid, to the point that everyone involved takes their sweet time figuring out who should hold the blade.

Everyone gets their moment in the sun (or at least dark, lightning-filled skies), and in particular, Josie and her sister Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) have some nice moments where they decide to try together to pull the sword from the stone.

It doesn’t work, mind you. And eventually, fellow student Raf (Peyton Alex Smith) comes out of nowhere to grab Excalibur, revealing he has Arthurian blood, kills The Green Knight, and saves the day.

And meanwhile, back at the school, Landon is trying very hard not to get resurrected, while a villain called The Necromancer (Ben Guerens) prances around like the Liberace of the undead trying to convince him to get back in his body.

Also, the Necromancer’s minion Chad (Charles Jazz Terrier) comes back to life and decides to use his second lease on living to become a manager at a frozen yogurt shop. This is right before he vomits a firehose’s worth of black goo, and dies for real.

Even with Hope asleep for most of the episode, which helps drive home the theme that, despite her often being the one to save the day, everyone has that possibility inside them, the episode doesn’t suffer because the whole cast is so entertaining.
