This Iconic Bowl From ‘Bake Off’ Is A British Heritage

Published by

Bake Off Updates: Fans of the acclaimed cooking show The Great British Baking Show (a.k.a Bake Off ) love the endearing kinship between its candidates. The playful energy from its hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

And the piercing blue eyes from judge Paul Hollywood stuck fear in the contestants. But, Bake Off’s most significant influence would be rousing a new era of bakers.

The Rise of Bake Off

The release of Bake Off contributed to a flood of interest in baking. And of course, fans definitely try out the new recipes at their homes. But, it’s harder to find the specific utensils, and bakeware used in the show.

Mainly because of the Bake Off production crew censors over logos. They also deliberately position the camera to hide the brand names of the appliances. Nonetheless, there is one thing so famous eager fans spotted it immediately- the iconic Mason Cash Ceramic Bowl.

The Iconic Mason Cash Ceramic Bowl

Any watcher of the Bake Off can clearly recognize Mason Cash’s iconic ceramic mixing bowls from the set. These exquisite, pastel-shaded staple bowls frequently become the focus when the cameras zoom into whatever blend the competitors are working at. For the same reason, they’ve held a unique spot in British kitchens for longer than a century.

First made in 1901, Mason Cash mixing bowls are made of chip-resistant material that is sufficiently strong to keep going for years to come. They are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and hues.

There are even choices made explicitly for enormous stand mixers.

Bake Off isn’t the only TV show where you can spot these bowls either. Ex-judge Dame Mary Berry also used it on Mary Berry every day to make her delicious salmon.

The bowls were even seen when Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George came together last Christmas to make four cause puddings for a charity event.

Where to Buy These Bowls

These bowls are as traditionally British as a cup of Yorkshire tea or a shepherd’s pie. While they’ve stayed on the corner store, we’ve discovered them online at amazon.com, wayfair.com, and food52.com.

They come in various sizes varying according to the price. Since the mystery is out, the stock will undoubtedly sell out soon. Get them while you still can!
