Police Officer Raiding Illegal Cockfight Gets Killed By Rooster

Police Officer Killed: A Philippine officer was slain by a rooster during an illegal cockfight in the province of Northern Samar. Cockfights are a religious trend in South East Asia, attracting large people, who bet on the bird’s fight. Razor-sharp blades attached to the feet of roosters, typically meant to fight against each other.

Lieutenant Christine Bolok so struck by one such rooster’s gaff. He received grievous injures on his left thigh, slicing his femoral artery. He was rushed to the hospital but breathed his last midway.

It was also reported by  The Philippines News Agency that, earlier to the pandemic, Cockfighting so permissible in licensed cockpits on Sundays and legal holidays, and local fiestas which lasted for not more than 3 days.

The Provincial Police Chief Colonel Arnel Apud claimed the accident to be unfortunate and called it “bad luck”.

He says he couldn’t believe the information at first; with this a very imbecile event in his 25 years of work,  that turned out to be perilous.

It also claimed that cockfighting was allowed on Sundays and legal days in licensed cockpits and on local fiestas, lasting no longer than 3 days, before the pandemic.

Colonel Arnel Apud, Head of Provincial Police, called the crash “Malad luck.”

He says that at first, he was not willing to believe the information; it proved to be a dangerous event in his 25 years of work.
