The Guilty, a white-knuckle thriller from director Antoine Fuqua, screenwriter Nic Pizzolatto, and actor Jake Gyllenhaal, is an English-language adaptation of Gustav Möller’s smash Danish thriller from 2018.
“The film takes place over the course of a single morning at a 911 dispatch contact center,” according to the Netflix summary. Joe Baylor (Gyllenhaal) is a call center operator who tries to help a caller who is in severe danger, but he quickly learns that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.”

Since its festival premiere in 2018, Gyllenhaal has been a great admirer of Möller’s film, which went on to become Denmark’s Oscar entry for Best International Feature. The combination of Gyllenhaal, Ethan Hawke, Riley Keough, Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Bill Burr, as well as “True Detective” writer Nic Pizzolatto and “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua, should make this a must-see for action aficionados. Gyllenhaal previously starred in Fuqua’s boxing movie “Southpaw.”

The Guilty Release date and Premiere Info
The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before being released on Netflix and in cinemas as a possible Oscar contender. “Möller’s original centered on a disgraced police officer temporarily reassigned to handle the Danish version of 911, a job he doesn’t seem to enjoy and one that doesn’t appear to provide much in the way of hard-hitting action,” according to IndieWire’s autumn preview.

That is until a call comes in from a woman claiming to have been kidnapped by a guy in a white van. What follows is exhilarating and terrifying in and of itself, but as “The Guilty” progresses, twists and surprises abound, adding to the film’s wild power.”
The Movie will Release on 1st October 2021 on Netflix and is labeled as R – Rated.
