The trailer starts with Wade, who’s having a birthday celebration with his girlfriend and friends. But then, there’s a sudden knock on his door. It’s the Hunters from TVA (Time Variance Authority) who are there to capture him. It turns out, Wade has become a TVA Hunter himself, tasked with catching Variants across different universes.
He learns about superheroes all over the galaxy and starts calling himself the Marvel Jesus. There’s uncertainty about whether Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is also a Variant Wade has to catch, which doesn’t bode well for Deadpool. However, fans hope they’ll eventually team up against a mysterious big bad.
This will be Jackman’s ninth time playing Wolverine, a role he retired from after “Logan” in 2017, leaving fans saddened. Jackman and Reynolds previously shared the screen in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” so they’re familiar with working together.
