Manhunt Trailer Reveals Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination!

Manhunt for Apple TV Plus is based on James L. Swanson’s best-selling book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer. This period drama is a mix of conspiracy thriller and historical fiction, following the search for Abraham Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth.   The show’s first trailer was released before its two-episode release on March 15.

The first “Manhunt” trailer reveals Apple TV+’s thriller on Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The recently released trailer takes us to Boyle’s version of the assassin who rose to historical fame after killing one of the most renowned Presidents in American history.

Setting the backdrop for how we came to the point of watching Booth load up a little gun and change the trajectory of history forever, the trailer picks up at the end of the Civil War, with President Lincoln (Linklater) being congratulated on the end of the long and terrible battle.

But the joy lasts just a minute as shooting flares at Ford’s Theater, knocking Lincoln into a coma that would eventually lead to his death.

It’s one of history’s most well-known but little-understood murders, and the show focuses on Lincoln’s friend and war secretary Edwin Stanton, who hunted for the killer and preserved the president’s reputation.

From here, it’s all-out action as Booth runs away, with Lincoln’s close friend and military officer, Edwin Stanton (Tobias Menzies, Outlander), after him. Stanton and a handful of troops race against the clock and a Confederate scheme to catch Booth before he goes into hiding forever.

The Cast and Crew of Manhunt.

Tobias Menzies portrays war secretary Edwin Stanton. Tobias is most known for his role as Prince Philip in seasons three and four of The Crown, which aired from 2019 to 2020. Tobias has previously appeared in Outlander, Casino Royale, This Way Up, Game of Thrones,  The Terror, Casualty, Rome, & The Night Manager.

Anthony Boyle portrays the guy who killed Abraham Lincoln. He has also appeared in Ordeal by Innocence,  Come Home, Danny Boy, Tetris, The Plot Against America, and Derry Girls. He will appear in the Apple TV Plus show Masters Of The Air in 2024.

Search also stars Legion actor Hamish Linklater as the renowned US President Abraham Lincoln. Brandon Flynn, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison (Daisy Jones and the Six), Damian O’Hare, Glenn Morshower, Patton Oswalt, and Matt Walsh co-star.

Monica Beletsky, an Emmy nominee (Fargo, Friday Night Lights, The Leftovers ), developed Manhunt and serves as showrunner and executive producer.

It was produced by Apple Studios and co-produced by Lionsgate Television, together with POV Entertainment, Dovetail Productions, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Monarch Pictures. Layne Eskridge,  Beletsky, Franklin, & Kate Barry all serve as executive producers.

James L Swanson, the author of Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer, acts as an executive producer along with Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith, and Naia Cucukov.
