Both Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee have confirmed their return. Having Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee reprise the Gyeongseong Creature characters in a modern-day context would be an excellent opportunity to recreate the program and do something completely different while retaining the flavor of the original season.

Lee Mu-saeng, a South Korean actor, is expected to join the main cast of Gyeongseong Creature’s second season.

Bae Hyun-sung will also appear in Season 2 of their upcoming Netflix drama alongside Park Seo-Joon and Han So-hee.

Earlier, the season 1 cast comprised South Korean idols Park Seo-Joon and Han So-hee, as well as the internationally recognized Claudia Kim. Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul, and Wi Ha-joon, the famous star of Squid Game, were also in the lead cast.

What Can We Expect from Season 2?

Gyeongseong Creature 2 will be an entirely different show, regardless of whether Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee continue to play their characters from Season 1.

Much of the series’ plot revolved around the historical setting of 1945, including but not limited to the last days of Japan’s colonial dominance over Korea and the experiments carried out by Unit 731.

Even though season 1 includes a few scenes in immediate post-World War II Korea, the transition to 2024 changes everything. Furthermore, from a narrative sense, people drawn to Gyeongseong Creature may be skeptical of an altogether new setting due to the show’s period piece aspect.

Taking the series in an entirely new direction with such a major plot surprise is a fascinating approach that could pay off. Gyeongseong Creature always featured mystical and sci-fi themes, so characters not aging for 80 years or with actual time travel would not seem out of place on the show.

A modern backdrop also allows the K-drama series to delve into the connection between its two leads in various circumstances, making it even better if they continue to portray the same characters. The timeline for Gyeongseong Creature season 2 is unclear but promising.
