Detective Kierce is now well after recovering from the illnesses & hallucinations triggered by Burkett’s medicine. He and his wife, Molly, have a grown son. Eddie took custody of Lily shortly after her mother died, as Maya wanted, and it is still an aspect of her life.
His children have grown up and started their own families. Shane Tessier, Maya’s long-time confidante, is still in their life. In the series’ last scene, Kierce, Eddie, and Tessier surround a now-grown Lily, who has just given birth to her daughter. Maya is the name of her kid, a loving tribute to the series’ main character.

There’s still hope for Fool Me Once fans!
Fool Me Once may not have a second season, but that doesn’t mean Netflix won’t get more Harlan Coben adaptations. The novelist and Netflix signed a five-year agreement in 2018 for the streaming service to adapt 14 of his novels into television series or movies.
In 2022, this was updated with an expected four additional years and twelve more titles. Fool Me Once is the first of many exciting adaptations, per the author’s deal with the streamer.
