Tomb Raider Netflix Anime Everything You Need to Know!

A brand new animated Tomb Raider anime series exclusively all set to hit Netflix in 2024 – a reason to celebrate?

Netflix, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, and Legendary Television are teaming up for a blockbuster series based on the extremely popular Tomb Raider video game franchise.

As you know Tomb Raider has been around since we knew television – going as far back as the mid-90s, and has since then, become one of the biggest gaming franchises in the history of gaming. Of course, megastar Angelina Jolie just HAD to star in the movie adaptations.

In 2024, we can expect to see the iconic Lara Croft in the avatar of an exciting animated series – and Netflix lists the project on its own site as a Japanese anime action series fondly described as a ‘road trip adventure’. You bet it is!

What Do We Know About the Tomb Raider Netflix Series?

The writing department of ‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ goes to Tasha Huo who has also been working on two other projects such as Black Belle and Red Sonja. Joey Soloway is allegedly directing the episodes thus we can expect a bar to be set, given their previous work on Amazon Prime’s ‘Transparent’.

The animation studio, ‘Powerhouse Animation’ that played ‘the man behind the curtains’ for Netflix’s Castlevania will also be working on this animated series – thus we can expect much more than just good visuals.

What Is the Plot of the Anime?

Honestly, it is too recent to give out any details about the plot of the series. Still, we do know that the anime takes after the events in the most recent Lara Croft trilogy of video games – so if you’ve played the games, you might have a hunch about what to expect.

When Is the Series Hitting Screens?

Although there isn’t much confirmation about the dates, we do know that the preliminary release dates had been set for December 12th, 2024 but this might change as well. We will have to wait and see.
