The Storyline of Maestro.

 Maestro
Netflix

The film Maestro is based on the life of famed conductor Leonard Bernstein, who rose to fame in 1940s New York City as one of the first iconic American classical music conductors.

He became a well-known conductor and composer in various genres, accepting multiple Emmy and Grammy Awards and a Tony Award for the musical Wonderful Town in 1953. He only won one Academy Award nomination for On the Waterfront in 1954 and thus fell short of the desired “EGOT,” but it has never lessened his reputation.

But, despite the film’s failure to overlook Bernstein’s success, it is not the main focus of Maestro. Instead, the film centers on Bernstein’s marriage to Felicia Montealegre and the family that grows out of their love. Critics mostly gave the film positive reviews.

The summary below is the official summary provided by Netflix.

“A majestic and brave love story, Maestro tells the narrative of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein’s lifetime relationship. Maestro is, at its heart, an emotionally intense epic narrative of family as well as love—a love poem to life and art.
