Mark Wahlberg Plays an Assassin on the Road in ‘The Family Plan’ Trailer

Apple TV+ has released a trailer for the forthcoming family action comedy The Family Plan, starring Mark Wahlberg as a family guy attempting to escape his past.

The Skydance Media Apple Original film stars Wahlberg as Dan Morgan, a loving father and a husband living the good life in the suburbs, when threats from his past as an elite government assassin emerge to take him out.

Chaos erupts when he whisks his family away on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Las Vegas to keep them safe without revealing his hidden job.

Dan Morgan opens the trailer as your typical suburban dad, admired by his neighbors and family, even if his children regard him as a dork. His wife (Michelle Monaghan) loves him but wishes for more adventure.

Dan must use his long-dormant fighting talents to fend off a threat, and she quickly plans an escape to get everyone out of harm’s way and finally get them all new identities.

His two lives clash as he juggles being the fun-loving dad, building memories for his wife, moody teenage daughter, pro-gamer son, and 10-month-old baby while stepping into his assassin role one more time to take out the evil men on their tail.

The Family Plan will also have some family clash when everyone learns about Dan’s jobs, despite his best humorous efforts to hide his double life. They wonder if his love for them is real or just a front for his high-profile hitman work.

Many aspects of the film were made clear in the trailer, including the nature of Dan’s mission to escape his surfacing past. His children are given sufficient room to express themselves, and they both have the option to react to their father’s background.

They rapidly learn to relish the excitement of watching Wahlberg stretch his action muscles with expert hand-to-hand combat and a lethal trigger hand. Their presence indicates a lot about the film’s family-directed sense of humor.

The trailer also shows Wahlberg emerging shirtless from the shower, contrasting with Monaghan frantically spitting out her toothbrush. Morgan’s wife amusingly refers to him as “James Bond in a minivan” when he reveals his identity in a  scene.
