We’re prepping up the beat of reggaeton for its next comedy series Neon this October! If you’re a fan of musical dramas or comedies – then this series might be just up your alley. Neon, a new Netflix comedy is absolutely immersed in the world of reggaeton music.
A show steeped in an extremely rich genre obviously requires the absolute best music – and hence, we have the genre that interestingly birthed the iconic song, ‘Despacito’ – the second most viewed video that ever aired on Youtube!
‘Neon’’ tells the musical tale of three friends with big dreams who move to Miami to break their chance into the music industry and transform the world of reggaeton music.
According to Netflix, the official synopsis of the series follows, “From small-town Florida to the gorgeous bright beach lights of Miami, Neon is the story of three friends as they hustle their way to making it big in the music world of reggaeton.
The comedy perfectly captures the friendship of three besties and their struggle for hustle towards reaching a ‘larger than life’ dreams, but also the harsher realities and mishaps of survival.
Together, this trio of besties hope to make it big in the music industry – or at least pay their rent!
Let’s Talk About the Cast in the Neon.
The show’s trio includes Tyler Dean Flores playing Santi, a budding artist in hopes of becoming the biggest reggaeton star in the world; Emma Ferreira who plays Ness (Santi’s manager), and Jordan Mendoza who plays the character of Felix.
Courtney Taylor plays Mia, an A&R representative who ends up taking an interest in Santi – these four have effortless chemistry, and this very chemistry-inspired Emmy-winning director, Oz Rodriguez directed the first episode. He simply felt that these characters fit – just like a puzzle.
The rest of the cast includes Santiago Cabrera’s portrayal of Oscar, Jordana Brewster as Gina, Genesis Rodriguez as Isa, and many more. You would have to tune in to see the rest of the cast!
