Netflix
After her phenomenal success as Gloria Pritchett in Modern Family, Sofia Vergara is all set to make a strong boss-woman comeback with the Netflix limited series Griselda.
One of the first things we notice about Sofia is that her look is absolutely transformed from a glam queen in Modern Family to a bruised and bloodied drug kingpin. This raw, and rage-filled appearance hints at plenty of cartel carnage to come – and we love it.
Griselda starrer Vergara is the epitome of an example to show that despite being on a sabbatical from first-leading dramatic roles (of 10 years to be exact!), she owns the television show to this date.
The six-episode limited series will throw light on the true story of Colombian drug lord, Griselda Blanco who rose through the ranks of Miami’s criminal underworld in the 1970s-1980, got burned, and rose from the fire more powerful than ever.
The show’s creator is no stranger to the cartel world, as the series comes from the masterminds behind the blockbuster hit crime drama, Narcos and its sequels. We’re not saying that this series will be a direct comparison to the Narcos universe, but it is still quite a must-watch for those who loved the former!
Griselda Blanco – The ‘Bosswoman’ of the century!
A notable and official synopsis of the series delves into the gist, calling Griselda one of the most profitable cartels in history. Sofia’s titular character is inspired by the life of savvy and ambitious Colombian businesswoman, Griselda Blanco who was also a devoted mother in addition to being a real ‘boss-woman’!
The official synopsis also throws light on Blanco’s lethal blend of savagery and charm which helped her navigate the nitty-gritty of the business world, and smoothly transition between business and family – leading her to become ‘the Godmother’.
Although Sofia Vergara looks unrecognizable in the series – the AGT panelists certainly gave her the chance to step out stylishly throughout the series!
