This film revolves around the inspiring journey of Jose Hernandez, who was once upon a time a lowly farm worker turned engineer and eventually an astronaut at NASA. Talk about awe-inspiring!

A Million Miles Away portrays the story of perseverance, break-bone effort, blood sweat, and tears – and of course, a ton load of determination shown by a flight engineer on his journey as an aspiring astronaut at NASA.

His story, however, starts humble and from the grass-roots level in the farms of a rural village in Michoacan, Mexico.

A Million Miles Away Reviews

A Million Miles Away has its moments of appeal throughout the duration – Hernandez’s relationship with his wife and family is beautifully drawn out, especially during the opening scene when his father mentions that they must relocate from one farm to another to secure a better future financially.

However, throughout the film, it becomes rather evident that the writers wanted to portray Hernandez as a likable and non-controversial character but this methodology ends up becoming a little bland and boring after one point of time.

As a viewer, you want the protagonist (in this case, Hernandez) to find success and you root for him – but the film lacks a graph where he teeters on the brink of failing and then making a successful comeback.

In terms of overall review, the film is rated well but it could have been much better in the fact that it could have dedicated more time to exploring the connections and similarities between Indian legend, Kalpana Chawla and Jose Hernandez at NASA – the first similarity? They were both people of color who achieved tremendous success.

The movie in general only touched this aspect rather than delving into it deeply.

Based on the biopic, this film does offer excitement but it ultimately becomes monotonous by the end of the film.
