Gabriel Guevara had an active international warrant against him and was scheduled to accept a Filming Italy award for the best young actor. His case will be decided by the court of appeals before the extradition process can start while he is being held under protection by the Italian State Police.

When Filming Italy learned of the arrest, they decided to revoke the prize as a “precautionary measure” until the resolution of the legal matter.

Courageous people came forward to accuse Guevara of s*xual assault at the festival. The descriptions of the alleged instances are upsetting, underscoring the necessity of establishing a secure setting where victims can feel empowered to report such wrongdoing.
