Canadian Figure Skater Alexandra Paul Dies In A Car Accident.

An Olympic figure skater, Alexandra Paul, died in a vehicle accident while driving with her infant.

According to Skate Canada, former Canadian Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul passed away earlier this week in an accident in Ontario involving seven cars. She was 31 years old. Paul, a Canadian athlete who competed in the ice dance discipline at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, came in 18th place.

When a transport truck allegedly plowed into a queue of stopped automobiles on Country Road 124 in Melancthon Township on Tuesday, Paul was inside a car with her infant, according to police.

In Ontario’s Melancthon Township, the accident took place. Paul was declared dead, but her infant was sent to a local children’s hospital for non-life-threatening medical attention.

During the 2010 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, Paul took home a silver medal. He stopped skating competitively in 2016.

In addition to competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Paul and her skating partner Mitchell Islam earned multiple international and three gold medals for Canada. 2016 saw her retirement.
