Volker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries were cast in the roles of Inspector Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter respectively in the series. It premiered on October 13, 2017.

This British TV series is adapted from a Swedish series that is based on the Kurt Wallander novels of Swedish novelist Henning Mankell.

The plot revolves around the eponymous Swedish detective investigating a series of murders near Skane, the south of the country, that leads to the uncovering of vast corruption in the center of the Swedish establishment.

Kenneth Branagh portrayed Wallander in the series. The series marks the first English-language production of the Wallander novels. It ran from November 30, 2008, to June 5, 2016. The series won six British Academy Television Awards including one for Best Drama Series.
