Scottish author, journalist, and television writer Neil Forsyth created the British television drama series ‘The Gold’ which serves as a dramatization of incidents involving the Brink’s-Mat robbery of 1983.
The plot features a robbery that happened in the Heathrow International Trading Estate of London in which twenty-six million worth of diamonds, gold bullion, and cash was robbed resulting in widespread events covering the following decade.
Various international criminal investigations ensued after the robbery. It became the biggest one in history at that time.
The Gold was first commissioned in August of 2021 by the BBC. Principal photography of the film began in April of the next year with the names of a number of cast members announced at that time.
Lawrence Gough and Aneil Karia were also announced as directors for the series. The first episode was previewed on 17th January 2023 at the BFI Southbank.
On BBC One it aired on 12th February. All episodes were available simultaneously on BBC iPlayer and ran till 19th March. The Gold is all set to be released on Paramount+ on 14 September 2023.

In the role of Edwyn Cooper, English actor Dominic Cooper has been cast. His other television credits include ‘Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond’, ‘Agent Carter‘, ‘Preacher’, ‘Spy City’, and ‘That Dirty Black Bag‘. Cooper will also star in the upcoming TV series ‘My Lady Jane’.
English actress Charlotte Spencer has starred in the crime drama series in the role of Nicki Jennings.
Spencer’s previous television credits include ‘Glue’, ‘The Living and the Dead’, ‘Sanditon‘, ‘Jeopardy’ etc.
Scottish actor Jack Lowden has played the role of English criminal Kenneth Noye, sentenced to life imprisonment for Stephen Cameron’s murder while staying on license from prison in 1996.
He previously starred in the TV series ‘Small Axe: Mangrove’, ‘And Slow Horses’ for the latter of which she was nominated for the British Academy Television Awards for Best Supporting Actor.
In the role of English criminal John Palmer, involved in various criminal activities like timeshare fraud and mortgage, Welsh actor-director Tom Cullen has starred in the series.

In the role of Tony Brightwell, we will see Scottish actor Emun Elliott in the crime series. Elliott’s other tv credits include ‘Paradox’, ‘Lip Service’, ‘Game of Thrones‘, ‘Threesome’, ‘The Paradise‘, ‘Falcón’, ‘Trust Me’, ‘Guilt’, ‘The Rig’, etc.
English actor Sean Harris has starred in the role of Gordon Parry in the series. He previously starred in the TV series ‘The Borgias’, ‘Southcliffe’, ‘Jamaica Inn’ etc.
British actress Ellora Torchia has been cast in the role of Sienna Rose in the crime drama TV series. Torchia previously starred in the tv series ‘Indian Summers’, ‘Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands’, ‘The Split, etc.
In the role of Marnie Palmer, we can see English actress Stefanie Martini in the TV series. Her most notable television credits are ‘Doctor Thorne’, ‘Emerald City’, ‘Prime Suspect 1973’, and seasons four and five of ‘The Last Kingdom‘.

British actress Sophia La Porta played the role of Kathleen Meacock in the crime series. Among her other TV credits, there is the 2019 romantic comedy miniseries ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
