Florence Pugh Joins SAG Protest With Bold Messages.

Published by

Florence Pugh recently joined SAG Protest. Hollywood has been going through a tough time recently, an industry that has an illustrious and monumental history of more than a century old is in its arguably most challenging phase.

Last month it was announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences that the Emmy Awards which was scheduled to take place on September 18, has been postponed and is now expected to take place in January of 2024.

This is only the second time in Hollywood history that the Emmy has been postponed, the first such happening was after the 9/11 incident back in 2001.

The hosts of the event, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have officially made the announcement of the postponement without giving any reason, so now the real question is why has this happened?

Well, it is due to the widespread protest that has been started by the union of writers and actors – Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

Their major issues include low pay of the writers and proposals from “the studios” — a group featuring big streaming platforms Apple, Amazon, Netflix, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Paramount, who are planning to use AI tools in the process of filmmaking, the result of which is quite obvious – many artists would simply be left with no job.

Many top actors have joined the protest and the latest entrant is popular actress Florence Pugh.

The Midsommar actress Florence Pugh has been quite vocal about the protest from its beginning, last month she stunned everyone in London when she walked out of the premiere of Oppenheimer citing reasons that everyone who is behind the making of the movie should be invited and not only the actors.

She went on to join the protest with a banner in hand and it’s really courageous on her part to support the protest this boldly.
