Hellbound Season 2 Production Begins – Possible Release Date

Hellbound Season 2 was announced by Netflix a few months back since then fans are waiting for new updates regarding the upcoming series. Kim Sung-Cheol is the latest addition to the cast in the series in the lead role of Jung Jinsu and as the production started just now, we have speculated a few important timelines and information you must know about the upcoming series.

The South Korean horror-drama series Hellbound has garnered immense popularity and created high expectations among its dedicated viewers since its renewal in September 2022. Speculations about the show’s production status have been surfacing, but as of now, Netflix has not officially commented on the matter. It is believed that the pre-production is over and the first schedule of production has started just now.

Recently Netflix Korea has confirmed its production status by uploading a video on the youtube channel. In the video, we can see the production team working on short division and a few glimpses of first looks can also be seen in the video.

If you have watched Season 1 of Hellbound you must be familiar with the plot of Hellbound which takes place on an alternate earth where the sins of every individual are manifested by angels and then bulky creatures are sent to earth to send those individuals to hell for damnation.

The story revolves around a cult leader named Jeong Jin-soo played by Yoo Ah-in in season 1 I do not want to give any spoilers for the new fans but we can discuss the legendary ending scene, which has raised curiosity among the fans because of its unique cliffhanger.

The cliffhanger of Season 1 will surely change the course of Hellbound Season 2, New Truth and Arrowhead will play the major role in Season 2 as all the sinners are being resurrected which will create another level of chaos in Hellbound Season 2.

If you don’t know the series is based on a Korean Webtoon of the same name and it has been created by Yeon Sang-ho who has worked on movies like “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula”. And the creator has spoken about Season 2 of Hellbound with Variety, He said:

Because “Hellbound” is based on the original webtoons, my partner Choi Kyu-Seok and I have decided that the story afterward will be told first through the webtoon and, as for whether we would want to turn that into another live-action series, that’s something that we will need further discussion on.

Few days back it was announced that Kim Sung-cheol will replace the role of Yoo Ah-in as Jin-soo in Hellbound Season 2. So it will be very exciting to watch him in the much-appreciated, highly-rated, and critically acclaimed series. The 31-year-old actor Kim Sung-cheol is for his roles in the movies like The Night Owl and Search Out. Then he has also appeared in series like Vincenzo, Racket Boys, and Our Beloved Summer.

When can we expect Hellbound Season 2?

According to a recent report by South Korean news outlet Ada Daily, the production for Hellbound Season 2 is expected to commence this summer. There remains a possibility that the second season might not make its comeback in 2023 at all, considering the time-consuming aspects of filming and post-production, which usually takes around three to six months to complete.

Given the circumstances, our prediction is that the show might aim for a release window around late summer or fall of 2024.

As a streaming giant, Netflix is known for not releasing multiple seasons at once unless a series achieves significant popularity and budget approval. Therefore, expectations are high, and fans are hopeful for the prediction of Hellbound Season 2 consisting of about six episodes, each running for approximately 42 to 60 minutes. Once released, the second season will be available exclusively on Netflix.
