Heartstopper Season 2: What Happened During Charlie and Nick’s Prom?

Did Nick express his feelings for Charlie? Heartstopper Season 2 returned on Netflix on August 3, 2023, reuniting familiar characters in a somewhat different scenario.

The latest season of the renowned series began with plenty of questions, but it eventually answered most of them. Some significant story issues, however, are left unresolved. The show is far from being done.

Heartstopper Season 2 Ending Explained

The final episode of the season is crucial since it tackles one of the most critical milestones for the main characters, prom. Charlie and Nick get closer and more truthful with one another during the season.

Following their school visit to Paris, Nick gains confidence in confirming their relationship and ultimately chooses to come out on Instagram by uploading a sweet picture with his partner.

The two then decide to go to their first prom as a couple, which is a lovely event. Nick was now publicly out as bis*xual to everybody, including his parents, his critical brother, and his classmates. 

As hormones fly and passion explodes across the Truham halls, one student realizes that the concept of love may not be for him.

Isaac’s prom night included a solitary trip to the school library, where he found a book regarding as*xuality. During the season, the shy bookworm explored a friendship – and even a romantic relationship – with another peer.

However, he realized he was not experiencing any attraction through personal interactions, including one lackluster kiss. He discovered through an art display that as*xuality, by definition, seemed to match his taste for little s*xual or romantic involvement.

Isaac did not officially come out as as*xual before the end of the season, but his new book appeared to represent a more profound knowledge of his own identity.

Tara (Corinna Brown) is surprised to learn that her date, Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), cannot attend the prom. Tara arrives at her girlfriend’s house, worried about what could have transpired, while the latter comes to prom at the last minute.

Darcy admitted that she wasn’t sure Tara would enjoy the vulnerable part of herself that she often covers, so she opted to keep her sentiments secret. On the other hand, Tara informed Darcy that she liked every aspect of her, thus putting her at ease.

Elle is accepted to Lambert School of Art when her ‘Safe Place’ piece is chosen for an exhibition. Elle enjoys her prom with Tao before leaving to attend the same, as they head to the dance floor to make memorable memories.

Imogen’s path was erratic throughout the season, but towards the finale of Heartstopper season 2, her character (Rhea Norwood) forged a new friendship with Sahar, who performed in the prom band.

With a third season of Heartstopper announced, it will be revealed later if Charlie expressed his feelings for Nick and whether or not his sentiments are returned.

We can sense a hint of hesitancy on Charlie’s face, and it will be intriguing to see where writer Alice Oseman takes us from here in Season 3.
