Baki Hanma Season 2 Ending Explained: Netflix’s original net animation ‘Baki Hanma,’ also known as ‘Hanma Baki – Son of Ogre,’ draws its inspiration from the manga series of the same name authored and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki.

As Season 3 in the expansive ‘Baki the Grappler’ series, this Shounen action-adventure manga follows the life of the protagonist, 18-year-old Baki Hanma.

The central plot revolves around Baki’s unyielding dedication to rigorous training in preparation for a momentous showdown with his formidable father, Yujiro “Ogre” Hanma.

The first season of the anime sees Baki taking drastic measures by abducting the US President to ensure his transfer to Arizona State Prison, where the Strongest Man in America, Biscuit “Mr. Unchained” Oliva, is held captive.

In Season 2, the introduction of a colossal human hailing from the Jurassic/Cretaceous era captivates fighters worldwide, including Baki.

Nobel laureate Albert Payne leads the scientific team studying the finds, initially believing that the T-Rex was hunting the man, but they realize it was the other way around.

They try to revive the prehistoric man, nicknamed “Pickle” due to his preservation in saline rock, using a method similar to reviving prehistoric microbes, but it’s the smell of T-Rex meat that brings him back to life.

Gradually, it’s evident that Pickle possesses the intelligence of an average human without prior experience and education.

Baki Hanma Season 2 Ending Explained

At the end of Baki Hanma Season 2, Baki resists his strong desire to fight Pickle for an extended period, acknowledging the rarity of such a specimen and wanting to treasure him.

However, the fighter within Baki is still eager to test his powers against this formidable man.

During a previous encounter, Pickle sends Baki flying into the stands, prompting Baki to reflect on becoming a better person and avoiding reckless confrontations.

As the season nears its end, Baki positions himself on the other side of the arena, anticipating that Pickle might become hungry and launch an attack.

But Dr. Payne finds a solution to the problem of feeding Pickle by bringing the rest of the T-Rex to Japan and reproducing it in the lab, so he doesn’t have to fight again.

Upon realizing Pickle’s vulnerability, Baki humiliates him, triggering Pickle’s determination to evolve and fight for his pride.

As the battle unfolds, Baki gains the advantage by employing his vast repertoire of techniques and skills.

However, in his hubris, Baki decides to fight Pickle solely on stamina, which is Pickle’s forte. This decision leads to Baki’s defeat as Pickle executes a move he has never used before.

Despite being a prehistoric man, Pickle exhibits his own sense of honor, showing respect to his defeated foes, even in the act of devouring them. Only three people witness the intense battle: Retsu, Tokugawa, and Yakuza boss Hanayama.

Following the intense fight, Hanayama notices that Pickle had to resort to a previously unseen move against Baki. This observation suggests that Pickle harbored a fear of being defeated by a modern man, leading him to improvise and create a new technique to counter his opponent’s strength.

What Happened To Pickle?

Following Pickle’s intense battle with Baki, questions surface regarding how to handle him. The primary source of concern stems from his only fear, which is of wasps.

This fear has its roots in a traumatic childhood experience when he attempted to consume a dead wasp and suffered the consequences of its venom. This event has left a lasting impact, teaching him that even lifeless things can pose a threat.

As more information comes to light about Pickle’s multiple fights with contemporary fighters, a debate arises regarding the best course of action for him.

One of the central considerations is whether he should be reverted to his original prehistoric state. Dr. Payne cautions against such action, warning of potential consequences for future generations.

A global vote is conducted, and the majority chooses to put Pickle back into the rock. However, before this can happen, Pickle presents the head of the T-Rex to Strydum as a gesture of gratitude and then disappears into the labyrinth of Tokyo.
