Rainn Wilson Says He Did Not Enjoy “The Office”

Published by

The Emmy-nominated actor Rainn Wilson, best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on “The Office,” revealed that he occasionally felt dissatisfied while working on the series.

In a recent conversation with Bill Maher on the Club Random podcast, Rainn Wilson, best known for playing Dwight Schrute in The Office, discussed his time working on the program.

Wilson said that despite the show’s popularity and favorable reviews, he felt primarily depressed while working on it. He said he was dissatisfied for several years since he thought his part in the program wasn’t enough.

Wilson has been open about some of the high points of his career as he promotes his recently published book, “Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution,” particularly the idea that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Why Did Rainn Wilson Not Enjoy The Office?

Although the podcast episode has yet to be made available, a transcript was made public that was the first to report on the interview.

Wilson said that despite working with renowned performers and having a top-rated show, he still wanted more. To fight it, he undertook “an intense dive into spirituality,” the subject of his most recent book.

From 2005 through 2013, the American television comedy The Office was a hit. The series provided a funny and mockumentary-style picture of office workers’ daily life while taking place at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton, Pennsylvania division.

It mainly focused on a broad mix of employees navigating the ordinary and occasionally bizarre circumstances that emerge at work, each with unique peculiarities and personalities.

The central figure, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, was the office’s inept and sometimes stupid regional manager, constantly looking for his staff’s acceptance and attention.

Dwight Schrute, played by Wilson, was the regional manager’s quirky and too exuberant assistant.

Wilson’s extremely debilitating anxiety forced him to reevaluate his way of life. It sent me back on a spiritual journey, and I saw that perhaps I had gained something by getting rid of anything spiritual. There may be a solution there.
