Christopher Miller created the American murder mystery comedy tv series The Afterparty Season 2 is set to release in July.
The plot of the series revolves around an after-party at a high school in which a murder takes place. Each episode of the series offers a different perspective of characters about what happened at that party.
The series is an exemplification of “the millennial whodunnit” which is a new subgenre of the murder mystery. In this type of mystery, the investigation becomes a medium for characters to seek personal fulfillment, second chances, and an escape from oppressive boring everyday life.
When Is The Afterparty Season 2 Releasing?
The idea of ‘The Afterparty’ came to Miller during the early 2010s which is influenced by his love for the murder mystery genre. He wanted to make a show in which witnesses will be able to showcase their different perspectives.
Although it was first conceived as a feature-length project, Apple TV+ gave the production an order of eight-episode straight-to-series on June 24, 2020. The first season was released on January 28, 2022, on Apple TV+.
The series was renewed for a second season on March 2, 2022. Apple TV+ released the official trailer of Season 2 on YouTube on June 7, 2023. The Afterparty Season 2, consisting of ten episodes, is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on July 12, 2023, this year.

Tiffany Haddish-
A detective named Danner who is investigating the murder of Xavier, is played by American actress and stand-up comedian Tiffany Haddish. She will reprise the role in the upcoming season of the series too.

Zoë Chao-
The high school crush of Aniq named Zoë Zhu is played by American tv and stage actress Zoë Chao in the series.
Her other television credits include ‘The Comeback‘, ‘Strangers’, ‘Living with Yourself’, ‘Love Life’, ‘Party Down’ etc. She is set to star as a voice cast member in the upcoming American adult animated tv series ‘Creature Commandos’ which will release in 2024.

American actress Elizabeth Perkins will join the cast of ‘The Afterparty in season two in the role of Isabel.

Zach Woods-
The murder victim Edgar will be played by American actor and comedian Zach Woods in the second season of the series. He previously starred in the series ‘The Office‘, ‘Silicon Valley’, ‘Playing House’, ‘Avenue 5’ etc.
Paul Walter Hauser-
American actor-comedian Paul Walter Hauser will play the role of Travis in season two of ‘The Afterparty’. He previously starred in the series ‘Kingdom’, seasons two, four, and five of ‘Cobra Kai‘, ‘Black Bird’ etc.
Poppy Liu-
Zoë’s sister and Edgar’s fiancée Grace will be played by American actress Poppy Liu in the second season of the series. Her other film credits include ‘Sunnyside’, ‘Better Call Saul‘, ‘Hacks’, ‘Dead Ringers’, ‘American-Born Chinese’, etc.
