Netflix has already confirmed Extraction 3 after Extraction 2 had the year’s highest opening weekend.
When it involves Chris Hemsworth‘s future as Tyler Raker, the latest Extraction movie news is quite optimistic – Extraction 3 has been confirmed.
Director Sam Hargrave announced as part of Netflix’s global Tudum event. This comes just after the release of Extraction 2, but Hargrave and Chris Hemsworth have already shown interest in Extraction 3.
Expected release date of Extraction 3
While we know that Extraction 3 is coming to Netflix, we still need an official release date. If they’ve already been at work on a story for the third film, the wait will be brief.
However, the current writers’ strike may impact the new film’s development. The first Extraction film, released in April 2020, was followed by the sequel Extraction 2, released on June 16, 2023, although a third installment is likely to take less time.
Next year is too fast of a turnaround, but perhaps the third film will arrive in early summer 2025.

The cast of Extraction 3
The announcement for the third film revealed that Chris Hemsworth would reprise his role as Tyler Rake.
We haven’t heard anything further about the cast, although we’d anticipate Golshifteh Farahani to return as Tyler’s companion Nik Khan. She will, however, be missing her brother Yaz (played by Adam Bessa), who died in the sequel.
Idris Elba‘s mystery character, billed as Alcott, will almost certainly return as well, given the final scene indicates that he will play a role in the series’ future.
Another character who might appear in future films is Olga Kurylenko’s Mia, Tyler Rake’s ex-wife, although, despite Tyler’s help in saving her sister, she seems to want nothing to do with him.

What can we expect from Extraction 3?
There are no details as to what Extraction 3 will be about, but the road has been established thanks to the finale of Extraction 2.
At the film’s end, Idris Elba’s unidentified character emerges to make them an offer: if they complete a task for his boss, they will be released from prison. Who may it be, or what mission are they ready to embark on?
In Extraction 3, we’d learn more about the latest task – most likely a tricky extraction, in honor of the saga’s title – that will test Rake’s ability as a soldier. It’s also a new chance to bring him and Nik closer together, as we notice that they have love potential.
We also anticipate meeting Alcott’s elusive boss and learning if he is an ally or another enemy to deal with.
Whatever the premise for Extraction 3 is, it will most certainly continue the franchise’s history of exploring new locations in each film. Rake is sent to new world regions with each chapter of the Extraction series.
The first film took him to Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the second to Georgia. However, if the producers wanted to change things up and defy expectations, Extraction 3 might have Rake facing criminals on his native soil in Australia.
