What is the plot for Season 9?

Towards the final episode of season 8, Endeavour was advised he needed to gather himself. He was battling it at first, but he realized he needed time off, so he’s returning in a more upbeat frame of mind with lots of good intentions.
A tempting professional opportunity awaits Thursday, but the homecoming of his military son Sam, who was imprisoned in a military jail after going AWOL, threatens disaster.
In the meantime, the unsolved fraud and abuse scandal at the former reform facility Blenheim Vale resurfaces.
Previously in Endeavour season 2, the complicated inquiry placed Endeavour in prison for some time, while Thursday was shot. However, new events have occurred, with much worse repercussions.
