How did Cal Restore Flight 828?

Cal’s fate in Manifest was fulfilled at the end of the series. Since Manifest season 4 part 1, they’d known that it would be Cal’s responsibility to save the Lifeboat, but it was only in the finale that it became apparent what he meant to do.

Cal joined his Omega Sapphire with the one from the Noah’s Ark driftwood, which Saanvi had put in a fissure after determining that two Omega Sapphires must be combined.

Cal constructed the blue beacon, calling all the passengers to a single spot, seemingly sacrificing himself by vanishing into the blue light. Not only that, but the combined power of Cal’s two Omega Sapphires has restored Flight 828.

The Time Travel Subplot of Manifest Explained

When the passengers officially passed the Death Date, all volcanic activity ended, thereby ending the fear of the apocalypse. Instead of arriving and returning to their lives in 2024, the passengers were sent back to 2013, on the precise date Flight 828 was supposed to land.

Beating God’s tests allowed the passengers to live the lives snatched from them in the series opener.

Except for Cal, every passenger remembers what happened previously, but it’s still 2013 for everyone else.

This reset removes an array of plot developments from the Manifest timeline.

11 Passengers Died On The Death Date

Some passengers didn’t make it through the events of June 2, 2024. Everyone on the plane had to show whether they deserved to stay or explode into ashes, exactly like they did in 2013.

Paul, Randall, Autumn, Angelina, and seven nameless passengers all failed to make a decision and died in the end. While the show eventually rectified numerous deaths, all of these characters died.

In the last minutes, Manifest quietly verified their fates, with Vance observing that 11 people don’t just go missing on a flight and Angelina’s father seeking information about his daughter’s whereabouts.

What Happened to the Passengers?

Now that it’s all over, it’s clear why God set everything in action and picked the passengers to save (or doom) the planet.

The passengers assumed they were a random bunch representing a sampling of human culture. Their choices allowed God to decide whether humanity would survive volcanic destruction or die.

In the end, Ben realized that what they had gone through wasn’t the “sacrifice” they thought it was, but rather a “gift” because everything in their life would now be better than it was before.

Cal, for example, will not die from cancer and will be treated by Saanvi. According to Michaela, in the Manifest finale, God granted the passengers the “ultimate second chance.”
