It is understandable that watching 20-year-old Speedy bravely deal with the unspeakable tragedy of losing not only his mother and aunt in a terrible car accident but also his mobility from the chest down, effectively ending his dreams of becoming a basketball star hits differently than some of the show’s more conventional makeover storylines, like Jenny, a devout but perpetually single school principal whose self-confidence is given a much-welcome glow-up,
