The book “Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV” by Brian Stelter has been recognized as the source of inspiration for “The Morning Show.”

Stelter, a consulting producer for the program, wrote his book about the competitive morning television industry while he was a media reporter for The New York Times.

Stelter was able to document the rivalry that existed behind the scenes between the NBC “Today Show,” the ABC “Good Morning America,” and the CBS “This Morning.”

The pressure to have the highest ratings is constantly present, which makes this competition strongly felt on “The Morning Show.”

Even if the rivalry is crucial, it’s vital to remember that Stelter’s book also examines some of the scandals that have made their way to “The Morning Show.”

Despite being a fictional account of the events, the series has cleverly drawn comparisons to actual events and people so that viewers never forget that the series is ultimately based on reality and serves as both entertaining and educational material.
