Fatal Attraction (1987)-
Adrian Lyne directed this American psycho-thriller movie based on his own short film of 1980- ‘Diversion‘.
The plot revolves around a married lawyer getting into an extramarital affair with one of his colleagues as the latter becomes obsessed with the relationship and decides to do what it takes to sabotage the marriage.
Michael Douglas and Glenn Close portrayed the lead characters in the movie Dan Gallagher and Alex Forrest with Close being nominated for Academy Award for Best Actress.
Anne Archer who played Dan’s wife Beth was nominated for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
The movie was originally released in the United States on September 18, 1987. It arrived on Prime Video on 1st May this year.
The Adventures of Tintin (2011)-
Steven Spielberg directed this computer-animated action adventure movie that is adapted from the popular same-named comic book series Hergé.
The plot revolves around the young reporter and the titular character Tintin whose dog finds a scroll in a model ship that Tintin buys leading him to embark upon an adventure with Captain Haddock.
Jamie Bell gave voice to the character of Tintin in the film. The movie was released in the United States on December 21, 2011. It also arrived on Prime Video on 1st May this year.
The Doors (1991)-
Among the large number of films that arrived on Prime on 1st May, there is the biographical depiction of the “Electric Poet”, the rock band singer of the 1960s- Jim Morrison.
The film depicts Morrison’s early life as a film student and his rise to fame as the lead singer and songwriter of the titular band and his early demise at the age of 27.
American actor Val Kilmer portrayed Jim Morrison in the film. It was originally released on March 1, 1991.
True Grit (2010)-
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen directed this American Western movie that is adapted from the same named 1968 novel by Charles Portis.
The plot revolves around a group of three people- a fourteen years old girl who is detected to find the killer of her father, a US Marshall who she hates, and a Texas Ranger who joins them. But their mission tests the true gift of the trio while they quest for justice.
Hailee Steinfeld, Jeff Bridges, and Matt Damon portrayed the fourteen years old Mattie Ross, Deputy U. S. Marshal Rooster, and Texas Ranger LaBoeuf with Bridges and Steinfeld being nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role respectively.
The movie was originally released in the United States on December 22, 2010. It was also released on Prime Video on 1st May.
Till (2022)-
Chinonye Chukwu directed this biographical drama film. The plot revolves around the relentless quest for justice of Mamie Till-Mobley whose son Emmett Till was brutally killed by lynching at the age of fourteen while traveling to Mississippi to visit his cousins in 1955.
Danielle Deadwyler portrayed Mamie with Jalyn Hall playing Emmett. The movie was released on October 14, 2022, in the United States. It is set to arrive on Prime Video on 9th May this year.
She Said (2022)-
Maria Schrader directed this biographical drama film that is based on a report published by New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey about a number of s*xual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein, a powerful Hollywood producer who served as the launching pad for the revolutionary #MeToo movement.
Zoe Kazan and Carey Mulligan portrayed Kantor and Twohey respectively in the film. It was released in the United States on November 18, 2022, and is set to arrive on Prime Video on 19th May this year.
Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)-
George Miller directed this fantasy romantic drama film that is adapted from A. S. Byatt’s short story titled ‘The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye’.
The plot centers around a professor unleashing a djinn from a bottle who then tells her his experiences and stories from his thousands of years old life.
Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba portrayed Professor Alithea Binnie and the djinn respectively in the film. It was released in the United States on August 26, 2022. It will be available for streaming on Prime Video from 23rd May this year.
Violent Night (2022)-
Tommy Wirkola directed this Christmas action comedy movie the plot of which surrounds Santa Claus fighting off mercenaries and freeing a wealthy family from being their hostage.
David Harbour portrayed Santa Claus in the movie. It was released in the United States on December 2, 2022. On 26th May the film will arrive on Prime Video.
Top Five (2014)-
Chris Rock directed this comedy movie that is centered around an established actor reconnecting with his passion for stand-up comedy after he encounters a famous journalist.
It premiered at Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2014, and will be available for streaming from 28th May on Prime Video.
Hot Pursuit (2015)-
This Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara starred action comedy movie revolves around a police officer trying to protect the widow of a drug boss through Texas.
The movie was originally released by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 8, 2015. It will arrive on Prime Video on 29th May this year.
