Is the Upcoming Sci-fi Television Series ‘Silo’ Releasing in May 2023?

Graham Yost has directed this upcoming science fiction tv series ‘Silo’ adapted from the Silo novel series of author Hugh Howey.

The plot is set in a toxic dystopian future in which a giant silo shelters an entire community. The silo consists of hundreds of stories and is situated deep underground. In that community they live under strict regulations which they are manipulated to believe are there for protecting them.

The series Silo was first announced to be under development at 20th Century Fox as a feature film. After being shelved as a result of Disney acquiring 21st Century Fox, the project was again renewed on July 30, 2018, but this time for television.

Ultimately the series moved to Apple TV+ three years later. Rebecca Ferguson was announced to have been cast in the lead role at the time of the order announcement.

Other cast members joined the series in the following months. Apple TV+ released the official trailer of the series on YouTube on 6th April this year. The series is scheduled to be released on 5th May 2023.

The first two episodes are going to be available on that day with the rest of the episodes set to be released on a weekly basis till 30th June.

In the role of the protagonist Juliette, we will see Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson. Ferguson’s various film and tv series roles garnered her a number of accolades.

From 1999 to 2000 she portrayed Anna Gripenhielm in the Swedish soap opera ‘Nya Tider’. In 2013 she played the main role of Elizabeth Woodville in BBC One’s historical drama serial ‘The White Queen‘.

The next year she was also cast in the main role of the Biblical character Dinah in the American tv miniseries ‘The Red Tent’.

American rapper Lonnie Rashid Lynn has been cast in the role of Sims. Familiar by his stage name Common, he has starred in a number of television series and films.

In 2009 he starred as a commentator in the documentary miniseries ‘Black to the Future’. From 2011 to 2014 he played the main character Elam Ferguson in the American / Canadian Western tv series ‘Hell on Wheels‘.

As Rafiq, he starred in the American drama series ‘The Chi’ from 2018 to 2019 while also serving as executive producer.

In 2021 he played the recurring character Dr. Chris Jackson in the popular American comedy-drama series ‘Never Have I Ever’.

As Holston, we will see in the series British American actor David Oyelowo. Among his various tv series, there is ‘Star Wars Rebels’ in which he starred as a voice actor as Alexsandr Kallus from 2014 to 2018.

He also gave voice to the villainous lion Scar in the American animated tv series ‘The Lion Guard’ based on ‘The Lion King’. As Javert, he was cast in the British tv series ‘Les Misérables from 2018 to 2019.

In 2021 he starred as the main character Edward in BBC One’s four-part tv thriller ‘The Girl Before’.

Iain Glen-

As Pete Nichols, we will see Scottish actor Iain Glen in the series. He is widely popular as the actor who portrayed Ser Jorah Mormont in HBO’s epic fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones‘.

Among his previous television credits, there is the 1992 British Australian tv drama ‘Frankie’s House’ in which he played Tim Page, a British-Australian photographer noted for his work on the Vietnam War.

In 2005 he was cast as Scottish soldier Alan Breck in BBC’s two-part tv series ‘Kidnapped’. Glen’s other television credits include ‘The City of Vice’, ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’, ‘Downton Abbey‘, ‘Prisoners’ Wives’, ‘The Red Tent’, ‘Cleverman’, ‘Delicious’, ‘Mrs. Wilson’, ‘Titans’, ‘Reyka’ etc. In ‘Game of Thrones’ he starred from 2011 to 2019 in fifty-two episodes.

American actress Rashida Jones has been cast in the role of Allison. She is best known for her role in ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘The Office’.

Her other television credits include ‘The Last Don’, ‘Boston Public’, ‘Wanted’, ‘Angie Tribeca’, ‘BlackAF’ etc. She is also set to star in the upcoming dark comedy series ‘Sunny’.

Tim Robbins-

People

Portraying Bernard Academy Award-winning American actor and filmmaker Tim Robbins will be seen in the series.

He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dave Boyle in the neo-noir crime drama film ‘Mystic River’.

Harriet Walter-

The Times

British actress Harriet Walter will be seen portraying Martha Walker in the upcoming series.

Her television credits include ‘A Dorothy L. Sayers Mystery’, ‘The Men’s Room’, ‘Unfinished Business’, ‘Little Dorrit’, ‘Hunter’, ‘Law & Order: UK’, ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘The Assets’, ‘London Spy’, ‘The Crown’, ‘Flowers’, ‘The Spanish Princess’, ‘This Is Going to Hurt’, etc.

Other cast members of the upcoming series are Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Ferdinand Kingsley, Shane McRae, etc.
