Katherine Wyler, the recently elected US ambassador to the UK, had hoped to be assigned to Afghanistan as opposed to London.
However, as risks of conflict keep surfacing throughout the world, Kate must resolve diplomatic crises, establish alliances of strategic importance, and acclimatize to her new life in the United Kingdom.
Her new profession, though, puts strain on her long-term marriage to her colleague diplomat Hal Wyler, an ex-ambassador who has now been demoted.
He’s yearning to get involved, and emotions are rising! Then there’s a massive problem in the Persian Gulf, and from there it all starts.

Yes, there absolutely is. On April 5, Netflix published the official trailer for ‘The Diplomat,’ which depicts Keri Russell’s character, Kate is dispatched to the United Kingdom to avoid a conflict from springing out.
Her spouse, Hal Wyler, who also serves as a diplomat, joins her on the trip. In addition to the worldwide situation, Kate must deal with issues in her marriage, with Hal conceding that he is not the sole source of conflict in their relationship.
