Liz Tigelaar, who also worked on Little Fires Everywhere, adapted the Cheryl Strayed book Tiny Beautiful Things for television.

A writer named Clare, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn, who struggles with her issues, becomes an advice columnist in this comedy-drama.

In the epilogue, Clare faces her violent father for the first time after years of quiet, while flashbacks show her looking for her brother so they may bid farewell to their mother, who is dying. It’s a touching ending that correctly completes the series.

Danny revisits the therapist’s office in one of the epilogues after hours. Whether Danny was having an affair with therapist Mel was never truly made apparent by the showrunners, and in this case, we don’t receive any concrete proof to back up the claim either, but it is strongly indicated that, at the very least, they are both going too far.

Finally, Clare dreams of having the opportunity to say farewell to her mother in the closing minutes. It’s a moving and emotional conclusion.

Clare’s previous regrets have influenced her whole existence, but she is now emotionally ready to let those regrets go and finally say goodbye. Hopefully, Clare can go on with her life, happy with her writing achievements and reunion with Rae.

She is distraught when Clare discovers her brother Lucas has welcomed their violent father back into his life.

Lucas maintains that their father has changed, is now sober, and has prevented their family’s house foreclosure.

On the other hand, Clare still has trouble forgiving him for the physical and mental violence he put on their mother.

In addition, their father now owns the house that meant so much to them, making matters worse. In flashbacks, we witness Frankie, Clare’s mother, dying of cancer and being treated at a hospital.

Clare frantically looks for Lucas so they may say their mother’s dying farewell together. But by the time they go to the hospital, their mother has already died, so it’s too late.

She is bitter that she didn’t get a chance to say goodbye and holds Lucas responsible for it, causing a persistent breach between them.

Clare, recalling the loss of her mother and the time she spent with Lucas scattering her ashes, counsels the Dear Sugar emailer always to put love first. She reconnects with Rae and mends their connection by taking her to a pasture of horses in the present.

In a poignant scenario, Clare eventually manages to let go of her past regrets and go on with her life as she dreams of saying goodbye to her mother. Clare can begin a new chapter thanks to her literary success and their budding romance.
