The show’s principal writer will be Shonda Rhimes. Shonda previously worked on the main series as an executive producer, thus, this is the first time she has had a direct writing role.

The new spin-off’s producers are Betsy Beers and Tom Verica. They have worked with Rhimes on non-Netflix productions, including Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder as well as projects like Bridgerton in the past.
