Riverdale Season 7 Episode 1 In A Nutshell

The series’ most recent season debuted on March 29, 2023, and only Jughead retains the memory of their former lives as the entire cast of the new season travels back to the 1950s.

The individuals in the show have not changed, but the dynamics of the relationships have. The original couples are no longer together, and fresh love interests start to emerge.

Jughead struggles to inform everyone of the situation as he tries to adapt to the new reality where a hamburger and fries only cost 30 cents.

Julian, Cheryl’s brother, is still alive, and Betty is dating Kevin. Jughead strives to fit in with these complicated relationships while Archie falls for the new student Veronica Lodge.

Riverdale Season 7 Episode 1 Ending Explained

The episode opens with a 1950s scene with Jughead detailing what was going on at the time, including the cost of hamburgers and the number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100, among other things. They were either in the past or an alternate reality, as Bailey’s comet had passed two days before.

Despite Jason Blossom’s, unfortunately, passing away, he is still alive. Reggie could not be located in any way.

Jughead hadn’t talked to his buddies about their future plans since he was holding off until he could discuss it with Tabitha, who was away at the time. The teacher urged the kids to watch Bailey’s comet, which will be visible in two years, after science class.

Jughead understood that the time capsule they buried might hold the solution to all of their issues, but when he pulled it up, he was noticed.

Toni and Tabitha had just come back from Mississippi, where the murderers of Emmett Till had been speedily found not guilty. Jughead offered assistance, but Tabitha couldn’t even remember his name.

Archie’s mother stole his car and left him with his bike since she was so upset by James Dean’s passing. A new student called Veronica Lodge from Los Angeles showed up at school.

Veronica was an actress, as were her parents. She came to Riverdale to experience small-town living since she had been cast in a new Our Town movie. Cheryl had to walk home when Julian declined Archie’s offer to drive her there out of curiosity.

For the school paper, Toni wrote a piece about the Emmett Till trial, but the principal won’t allow it to be published. Betty’s parents refused to watch the local news because they didn’t want to lose their major sponsor since the incident was too violent.

Jughead discovered that another two years would pass until Bailey’s Comet arrived. He finally revealed they were all 67 years in future to his friend. His friends couldn’t understand the revelation.

Their fame of Veronica made Cheryl envious. Cheryl exposes Veronica for lying about her reasons for moving to Riverdale.

Veronica acknowledges that she had to do that since her parents wanted to get rid of her. Mary was enraged that Archie had stolen his car and fled. In the Korean War, his father was killed.

Veronica received a call from her mother in Los Angeles telling her to associate with the appropriate people. That day, she travels alone to her home.

Betty was determined to publish the account after viewing the graphic photos of Emmett Till’s murder. She persuaded Cheryl to consent to Toni’s reading of a poem by Langston Hughes.

Everyone feels more sympathetic as a result, and Tabitha makes the decision to travel with her parents and Till’s mother across the country to promote reform.

As Tabitha arrived at Pop’, Jughead was sitting in a booth. Yet, this Tabitha was from the present day, not the 1950s.

They were unable to return home, but she remembered everything. It is revealed that the meteor crash caused a catastrophe, and she had to use her abilities to use time travel to save everyone. They share one last exchange.

He hurried to his typewriter as he felt his memories vanishing, but all he had time to write was, “Bend towards justice.” Jughead’s old knit beanie reappears all of a sudden. This is the point at which the episode closes.
