Is The Chosen One Coming in August?

Millarworld is all set for its next big adaptation of American Jesus to hit Netflix. It was initially announced as part of Netflix’s inaugural 2018 lineup of series and movies as ‘The Chosen One (or El Elegido in Spanish).

The comic book series, originally titled Chosen and launched in 2004, was among Millarworld’s initial batch of products. Mark Millar wrote the story, and Peter Gross illustrated it.

The publications were then re-released as American Jesus, with a total of three issues. In 2019 and 2020, a fresh comic series titled American Jesus: The New Messiah was released.

With the acquisition of Millarworld in 2017, Netflix obtained a collection of comics that included American Jesus. One year following its acquisition, the first lineup of Millarworld episodes and movies was unveiled, including American Jesus.

What is the official storyline for ‘The Chosen One’?

Jodie, a 12-year-old boy from Baja California, realizes he possesses Jesus-like abilities wherein he can transform water into wine, make the lame walk, and maybe even resurrect the dead!

As the area’s Evangelical and Yaqu leaders attempt to convince him to use his gifts to save humanity, all Jodie wishes to do is dazzle the girl he adores and fight up to his bullies.”

While Jodie fights and ultimately accepts his fate, everything is knocked for a twist when he learns he has discovered the truth about his identity.

Is there a release date for ‘The Chosen One’?

The Chosen One hasn’t received a release date as yet, but it is slated to debut on Netflix this year. Multiple rumors are doing the rounds which claim that the series might release in August 2023.
