Sanditon is just around the corner to return with its Sanditon Season 3 and final season. Andrew Davies developed this historical drama series that is adapted from Jane Austen’s unfinished manuscript.
Austen completed 24000 words at the time of her death. The plot is set in the Regency era and revolves around a naive and young heroine Charlotte Heywood who navigates a new seaside resort named Sanditon where she comes unexpectedly and where the spirited and unconventional woman becomes face-to-face with suitors and scheming inhabitants.
The series received a mixed reception from viewers as some of them criticized the series for its depiction of nudity and s*x which is alien to the works of Jane Austen and has been termed as “un-Austen-like”.
Viewers are also expecting a happy ending as this is the general characteristic of Austen’s world.

The first season of the series aired on August 25, 2019, on ITV with eight episodes. In the United States, the series premiered on January 12, 2020, on PBS which helped in the production of the series. In May of 2021, a second and third seasons were announced.
Sanditon Season 3 is going to be the final one. Filming of Season 3 began in July 2021 and premiered on March 20, 2022, on PBS and on July 22, 2022, on ITV.
Masterpiece PBS released the final season of Season 3 on YouTube on December 13, 2022. The third season is scheduled to arrive on March 19, 2023, with six episodes like the previous season.

Following are the cast members who are expected to reprise their roles in the final season.
Protagonist Charlotte Heywood is played by twenty-nine years old English actress Rose Williams in the series. She will be back for the upcoming season too.
Previously she played Claude de Valois in the historical romantic drama series ‘Reign’ from 2014 to 2017. She also played Faith Palladino in the dystopian action drama series ‘Curfew’ in 2019.
Williams’ film credits include ‘Changeland’, ‘The Power, and ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris’.
The character of Mary Parker will be reprised by English actress Kate Ashfield in the upcoming season.
Her other television credits include ‘Storm Damage’, ‘Crime and Punishment’, ‘Killing Hitler’, ‘This Little Life’, ‘The Trouble with Men and Women’, ‘Talk to Me’, ‘The Best Man’, ‘Secret Smile’, ‘Tsunami: The Aftermath’, ‘The Children’, ‘Never Better’, ‘Collision’, ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’, ‘United’, ‘Life’ etc.
Playing Georgiana Lambe, American actress Crystal Clarke will be back for Season 3. She previously starred in the Three-part BBC drama series ‘Ordeal by Innocence’ and the British alternative history tv drama film ‘Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar’.
Northern Irish actor Turlough Convery will reprise his role of Arthur Parker in the upcoming Season 3. Besides appearing in various television series, he also starred in the films ‘MindGamers’, ‘Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire’, ‘Saint Maud’, ‘Pixie’, and ‘Belfast’.
British actor Jack Fox will be back for Season 3 to portray Sir Edward Denham. His other television credits include ‘Riviera’, ‘Cheaters’, and ‘And privates’, and his film credits include ‘Theeb’, ‘Kids in Love’, ‘And Level Up’.
The character of Tom Parker will be reprised by English actor Kris Marshall in the upcoming season. His other television credits include ‘My Family’, ‘Murder City’, ‘Funland’, ‘Traffic Light’, ‘Citizen Khan’, ‘Lightfields’, ‘Death in Paradise’, ‘Beyond Paradise’ etc.
He also starred in films including ‘The Most Fertile Man in Ireland’, ‘Doctor Zhivago’, ‘Deathwatch’, ‘Death at a Funeral’, ‘Catwalk Dogs’, ‘Sold’, ‘Heist’, ‘A Few Best Men’, ‘A Few Less Men’, ‘Father Christmas Is Back’, ‘And promises’.
British actress Anne Reid will be back to portray Lady Denham in the upcoming season. Her television credits include ‘Coronation Street’, ‘dinner ladies’, ‘Life Begins’, ‘Upstairs Downstairs’, ‘Last Tango in Halifax’, ‘Our Zoo’, ‘Hold the Sunset’, ‘Years and Years’, etc.
She also starred in the films ‘Pat and Margaret’, ‘The Mother’, ‘Foster’, ‘Believe’, ‘Kaleidoscope’, ‘Romans’, ‘And SAS: Red Notice’.
Starring Clara Brereton, English actress Lily Sacofsky will be back in the upcoming season. She previously starred in the 2019 British Cold War tv miniseries ‘Summer of Rockets’ in the role of Hannah Petrukhin.
She also played DC Milena Paciorkowski in Seasons 2 and 3 of the British tv crime drama series ‘McDonald & Dodds’ from 2021 to 2022.
The character of Esther, Lady Babington (née Denham) will be reprised by English actress Charlotte Spencer in the upcoming Season 3.
Her other television credits include ‘Glue’, ‘The Living and the Dead‘, ‘Us’, ‘Baghdad Central’, ‘The Gold’, etc. Spencer also starred in the films ‘Wild Bill’, ‘The Duke‘, ‘Cinderella‘(2021), etc.
