Viking Wolf’s Ending Explanation: What happened to Thale?

The film is only the latest to appear after the European country has shown to be a solid provider of content, particularly in fantasy. “Viking Wolf,” Netflix‘s latest Norwegian monster horror film, has all the hallmarks of an adolescent horror classic like “Twilight” or “Ginger Snaps.”

Aside from the expansive beauty of Scandinavian surroundings, it fails to give anything original, owing to the combined sleep of a cliched monster plot and dull human characters.

Thales begins to experience unusual visions and strange wishes after being bitten by the wolf. Meanwhile, Liv Berg, the officer in charge of the inquiry, is visited by a guy named Lars Broden, who convinces her that he is a lycanthrope.

Even though the cops do not accept the older man’s account, he hands them a silver bullet. Liv establishes that a wolf was responsible for the mayor’s daughter’s death after discovering a claw in the woods, obtaining the autopsy report, and meeting with an expert from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science.

She then organizes a search team. She, Sheriff Eilert, and other hunters venture into the woods and uncover yet another disfigured body.

Everything becomes tricky when the wolf shows up and begins to attack numerous team members. Officer Berg runs into the beast as she attempts to exit the copper mine she had entered to conduct the investigation.

She fires many shots, but the massive monster is unaffected by regular bullets. Thales’ mother uses the silver bullet to kill the wolf just before losing the conflict.

While Liv’s arm will take six weeks to mend from a broken bone, Eilert was bitten and is now healing in the hospital. After so many fatalities, the authorities think the horror has ended, but a discovery alters the situation. The wolf’s missing claw is replaced with a nail on its corpse.

When Liv goes to Lars for clarification, the older man explains that it is a warg or a werewolf; if bitten, a person will gradually shift. The only way to end the curse is to kill the last werewolf before he bites another victim and starts the cycle of blood again.

Now that Liv is aware of her kid’s drastic transformation, she decides against killing the child and instead chooses to tranquilize her. When the tranquilizer fails to work, Liv, Jenny, and the animal specialist are forced to find cover.

For some reason, Lars crashes his vehicle into the store Liv and the others are sheltering in, injuring the veteran werewolf hunter and causing him to be devoured alive by Thale. Later, Jenny shoots her wolf sister with another tranquilizer arrow; this time, the creature is unconscious.

At the very end, Liv is seen walking into the space where wolf-Thale is still bound to the table and asleep. She decides to euthanize her daughter, a difficult choice. In the closing scene, Thale’s mother, devastated, enters her room and places the silver bullet that killed her on the bedside.
