Gunther’s Millions will join the ranks of other renowned Netflix-produced investigative documentary miniseries, including Tiger King, The Tinder Swindler, The Making of a Murderer, and many more, with its forthcoming run of four one-hour episodes. But given the dog-gets-rich plot, it is a much lighter and funnier offering than average for the well-liked streaming service.

Release Date of Gunther’s Millions

The four-episode season of Gunther’s Millions debuts on Netflix on February 1st, 2023. Averaging around 60 minutes, each episode has a running time of more than four hours. The names of any episodes have yet to be made public.

Netflix broadcasts all of the episodes of its series at once rather than releasing them one at a time each week, giving its audience the option to view them all at once or separately, as so many people do these days.

Gunther’s Millions: The Plot

A notable figure in Gunther’s life is Maurizio Mian, an Italian entrepreneur, and pharmaceutical heir. The significant fraud surrounding the dog’s wins, the cult-like environment around the dog’s opulent lifestyle, and some undiscovered scientific endeavors that could be replicating the dog are all the work of Mian.

Perhaps, along with Mian, the most well-known figure in the story is the German countess Karlotta Leibenstein, whose death is supposed to have occurred in 1992 and who is said to have left her dog, Gunther, an estate of $80 million.

Mian’s investments gave the net roughly $400 million worth throughout the years. Investigative television programs, however, could refute these assertions. The years-long cycle of dogs causes the water to get murkier.

According to the one-minute, 30-second movie, Gunther IV and his grandfather Gunther III obtained their money from Countess Leibenstein. According to reports, Leibenstein had no close relatives or children, which is why her German Shepherd was mentioned in her will.

In a sit-down interview for the documentary series, the enigmatic Mian says that the multi-million dollar trust Liebenstein left behind supports the dogs. However, there is no proof that a historical Karlotta Liebenstein ever existed. In 1995, Mian stated to an Italian journalist that the countess’ identity had been made up “to publicize the ideas of his organization.”
